Florida is known as the Sunshine State, and our crisp, blue-sky fall days truly do that nickname proud! The weather is especially choice here in Daytona Beach, where summers are spent splashing around in the surf (we are the World’s Most Famous Beach, after all) and the holidays are spent strolling in the sand, enjoying al fresco family meals and exploring the great outdoors with little more than a light sweater. Did you know that the average high at this time of year is in the 70s? There’s just nothing like it (plus, of course, it makes packing a breeze!)
Here in Daytona Beach, there is no shortage of family-friendly activities to enjoy. From our endless shores—including select stretches that you can actually drive on for a fun change of pace! –to timeless favorites like Congo River Golf, to educational opportunities like the nearby Marine Science Center or Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse, there’s always something new to discover on your next trip or staycation. We’re thankful for the opportunity to develop meaningful memories with the ones who matter most—and to rediscover our surroundings through fresh eyes when bringing along new friends and family.
Craving something delicious? Dining in Daytona Beach is a time-honored tradition, made even more flavorful thanks to the wealth of fresh seafood available all year long. If you have a sweet tooth, here at Perry’s you can even satisfy it with our complimentary, homemade donuts—or visit a local landmark like Angell and Phelps Chocolate Factory to see how your favorite sweets are made. Thanksgiving brings to mind good food and family to share it with, and we are so thankful for the many restaurants (old favorites and new discoveries alike!) that surround our area. Just like the food, the venues themselves never disappoint—for example, here at Perry’s you can enjoy breakfast or lunch by the water at Mango Sun Café, where the ocean breeze makes your meal that much better. Mango Sun will be undergoing renovations beginning on November 18, but in the meantime, plenty of waterfront spots abound up and down the beach and on the river to satisfy your appetite for breezy flavors!
We are also thankful to be surrounded by such a wealth of history, in the form of historical waterfront homes, storied landmarks like the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse and, of course, our area’s many meaningful racing destinations, from the Daytona International Speedway itself, to the Birthplace of Speed Park up the shore in Ormond Beach where some of the very firsts race happened.
Speaking of history, did you know that the first Thanksgiving in the “New World” actually happened just up the coast in St. Augustine, when Spanish settlers shared a celebratory feast with the native Timucua upon their arrival in 1565? Our stretch of shoreline is seriously steeped in history!
Most of all, we are thankful for you—our Perry’s family! By making our beachfront home your own, you’ve contributed to our tradition of making meaningful memories with the people we love, and we look forward to even more in the months and years ahead.
